Issues

Focused on the issues that matter to District 15

  • Affordable Housing in Safe, Livable Conditions

Affordable housing should not mean unsafe housing. Across District 15, too many families are living in conditions that are poorly maintained, unsafe, or simply not worth the rent being charged. At the same time, many working families, seniors, and young adults are being priced out of quality housing options altogether.

I believe we must focus not just on affordable housing, but on safe, livable housing. This means stronger enforcement of housing codes, holding negligent property owners accountable, and supporting responsible development that increases the number of quality housing options across our communities. Where you live should not determine your quality of life. As your State Senator, I will work with local governments, housing authorities, and community partners to support policies that expand access to safe, affordable housing and improve living conditions for families across District 15.

  • Timely Resolution of Court Cases

One of the most common concerns I hear from people across District 15 is how long court cases take to be resolved. When cases sit in the system for months or even years, it affects families, businesses, victims, and individuals who are simply waiting for their day in court. Justice delayed is not justice served, and long delays can cost people their jobs, their housing, their stability, and their peace of mind.

As your State Senator, I will support efforts to improve the efficiency of our court system by advocating for adequate staffing, better use of technology, and policies that reduce unnecessary delays while still protecting people’s rights to due process. Our courts should work for the people, and that means cases should move in a timely, fair, and efficient manner so that individuals and families can move forward with their lives.

  • Infrastructure and  Accessibility in Rural Communities

Many of the rural communities in District 15 are often overlooked when it comes to infrastructure and basic services. Roads, broadband internet, water systems, transportation, and access to essential services are not luxuries, they are necessities. When infrastructure is lacking, it affects economic development, access to healthcare, education, and overall quality of life for the people who live there.

I believe rural communities deserve the same level of attention, investment, and opportunity as any other area. As your State Senator, I will advocate for infrastructure investments that improve roads, expand reliable broadband internet, address ongoing water and sewer issues, and improve transportation access so that residents in rural communities are not left behind. Strong communities require strong infrastructure, and District 15 must be included in the planning and funding decisions that shape our region’s future.

  • Improving Healthcare Access for Women, Families and Seniors

Access to quality healthcare should not depend on where you live, how much you make, or whether you can take time off work to travel long distances for care. Across District 15, many families struggle to find nearby doctors, affordable care, mental health services, and specialized care for women and seniors. Rural hospital closures, long travel times, and limited provider availability have made it harder for many residents to get the care they need when they need it.

As your State Senator, I will support policies that expand access to healthcare providers, protect and strengthen rural healthcare services, and improve access to women’s health services, senior care, and mental health resources. Healthy families build strong communities, and we must make sure that women, children, working families, and seniors in District 15 are able to access reliable, affordable healthcare close to home.

  • Access to Skilled Trades Licensing and Workforce Training

Not every good career requires a four year degree, but in many cases, it still requires access to training, certification, and licensing. Across District 15, there are young people and adults who want to work in skilled trades like construction, electrical, plumbing, welding, truck driving, cosmetology, and healthcare support, but they often face barriers when it comes to training programs, licensing requirements, transportation, and costs associated with certification.

As your State Senator, I will support efforts to expand workforce training programs, strengthen partnerships between schools, technical colleges, and local industries, and reduce unnecessary barriers to licensing in high demand fields. We should be creating clear, affordable pathways to good paying jobs so that more people in District 15 can learn a skill, start a career, and support their families without being buried in student loan debt.

  • Government Accountability and Responsiveness

One of the most frustrating things people experience is not being able to get answers or help when they have a problem. Whether it is a housing issue, water problem, difficulty navigating a state agency, or simply not knowing who to call, many residents feel like government is hard to reach and slow to respond. People should not feel ignored when they need help from the very systems that are supposed to serve them.

As your State Senator, I will make constituent services and communication a priority. That means making sure residents know how to reach my office, helping people navigate state agencies when problems arise, and working with local and state officials to make sure issues are addressed, not ignored. Government should be accessible, responsive, and accountable to the people it serves, and I intend to lead with that approach.
